McIntosh top students honoredMcIntosh High School students who have demonstrated high academic achievement were honored recently by the school's Academic Booster Club, an organization that is unique among Fayette County's high schools. Students who earned a grade point average of 93 or above during the spring semester were treated to a catered luncheon at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, adjacent to the school. Those with a GPA between 90 and 93 enjoyed an ice cream social at the high school, and all students with GPAs of 85 or better received "goody bags" filled with candy, coupons from local vendors, and other treats. A total of more than 600 students were honored. The Academic Booster luncheons, held each fall and spring, are designed to recognize the academic achievements of McIntosh students. Luncheon entrees are donated by local businesses, and parents supply a variety of desserts. Businesses providing food for the luncheon and ice cream social include Arby's, Beef O'Brady's, Chick-fil-A, Fuddruckers, Partners II Pizza, Pizza Hut, Publix, Schlotzsky's Deli, Subway, Taco Bell, and Wendy's. The Academic Booster Club also awards academic letters to all McIntosh students who maintain a GPA of 90 or above, offers financial support to academic clubs at the school, and hosts two staff appreciation luncheons each year.
