Villages concert series announced

The six-concert 2003 concert series lineup for the Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville was announced last night to an enthusiastic crowd gathered for the city's annual holiday festivities.

Fayetteville Main Street director Nancy Price and title sponsor Bill Heard Chevrolet made it official at the traditional Christmas Tree Lighting at Heritage Park.

"We feel the series is a good mix of different styles of music with an emphasis on country," said Price.

All six concerts in the series are scheduled for Saturday nights in June, July and August. Charlie Daniels will kick off the series June 14 with his 25th Anniversary Tour performance.

The amphitheater will play host to popular 1908s group Air Supply for a June 28 show. One week later, July 5, the beach music of the Drifters and the female group The Marvelettes will be front and center.

B.J. Thomas takes the stage July 19, and the Swingin' Medallions come to town Aug. 2. The series concludes Aug. 16 with Glen Campbell, who performed two sold-out shows this year at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater in Peachtree City.

Series tickets will go on sale Saturday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Villages Amphitheater, located directly next to Fayette County High School on LaFayette Ave. Series tickets only will go on sale that day, with individual tickets sold beginning in February.

The series is priced at $150 per person for a reserved tier seat for the entire six concerts. Lawn seating is available for $120 per person for the series. Seats in the tiered section will be assigned, not general seating. There is space available in the tiered area for a small table to be set up in front of the chairs which helps create an atmosphere similar to Chastain Park.

Those individuals waiting in line Jan. 11 to purchase series tickets will be given a lottery number which will determine the order in which they will be placed in line. "No need to show up at 6 a.m. to purchase tickets," said Price. "We will draw numbers a few minutes before 10 similar to the procedure most ticket venues follow now."

Orchestra tables and tiered tables are available only as part of the Gold sponsorship packet and anyone interested should call Price at 770-461-6029.

Gold Sponsors to date include Scarbrough & Rolader Development, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Homebank Mortgage, Integrated Science and Engineering, Bank of Georgia, Oliver & Winkle P.C., Leslie Contracting, Talbot State Bank, Walker Concrete, Southern Crescent Mortgage, and Heritage Bank. According to Price, there are a limited number of Gold Sponsorships available.

Southern Community Bank is a silver sponsor, and that level includes reserved seats in the tiered seating area as well as marketing exposure. Call 770-461-6029 for further information.
