NNLC honors longtime greeter The Peachtree City chapter of the New Neighbors League Club recently planted an evergreen tree at the City Hall complex in Peachtree City in honor of longtime greeter Joan Thompson, who retired recently as an area representative for the club. After moving with her late husband, Keith Thompson, to Peachtree City from Ohio in 1982, Joan joined the Atlanta chapter of the NNLC and helped start a satellite club in Peachtree City. Thanks to her guidance and direction, the Peachtree City club was chartered April 10, 1986. From 1983 through 2002 Joan served as a greeter for the club, personally visiting countless new residents and encouraged them to join the NNLC. Many residents fondly remember their visit from Joan and credit her for representing the warmth of the community, its citizens and the membership of the NNLC. Joan continues to be an active member of the club and holds the lifetime title of area representative-emeritus. The New Neighbors League Club's purpose is to bring together newcomers in the area so that they may meet and become friends while adjusting to new surroundings. It is a not-for-profit social organization with a monthly meeting and a wide variety of special interest groups. If you are new to the area and would like more information about the club, please contact Carol Jensen-Linton at 770-486-9116.
