Santa to drop in at Falcon Field with gifts for special children By JOHN MUNFORD
Santa Claus will take time out from his busy North Pole schedule to visit a special group of children at Falcon Field in Peachtree City Saturday, Dec. 14. Approximately 20 of Fayette County's less fortunate children will greet Santa, who will bring toys just for them thanks to participants in Santa's Copilots' Toy Drop. The gifts will be delivered by a parade of planes after the children enjoy breakfast with the co-pilots at the Falcon Field terminal. Games and other entertainment are planned for the children, who will also get to share their Christmas wishes with Santa before the gifts are presented. Organizers hope to raise $2,000 to purchase the gifts, which will be selected from each child's wish list, said Matt Davis, who is helping coordinate the event. Each child will receive three presents, he said. "That's the fun, getting to see the kids rip into the presents," Davis said. Anyone interested in donating funds to the effort or buying a specific wrapped gift for a child can contact Fawn Keith at 404-530-5608 or via e-mail at Fawn.Keith@atlanta-airport.com, Davis said. This is the first year for the event in Peachtree City, but Davis was involved with it the past three years in Florida. He originally got the idea from a group that conducted a similar holiday program in Chicago. The five families that will participate in the event were selected by the Fayette County Department of Family and Children Services, Davis said.
