Price hike expected for bricks at PTC Veterans Memorial Persons interested in purchasing a brick to honor veterans at Peachtree City's Veterans Memorial are being urged to do so before a price increase takes effect. The cost is $25 per brick for applications received before Dec. 31, but after that date the price will likely increase by at least $10 due to vendor costs, said Bob Konrad, quartermaster of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9949 in Peachtree City. Bricks may be ordered for a U.S. veteran of any conflict regardless of where they reside and also for any person currently serving in the U.S. military. Applications are available at the Peachtree City Library or by calling 770-631-1439. In order to have as many bricks as possible installed before the city's Memorial Day ceremony, a cutoff date of March 1 was chosen for orders, Konrad said. Due to several production problems, installation of the last 64 bricks was delayed until Sept. 10, Konrad added. Most of the new bricks were placed to encircle the existing bricks, but a few were placed on the interior of the pattern to accommodate locating bricks of family members adjacent to a previously installed brick, Konrad said.
