Retirees stay busy helping others

Lou Cella Daniels and Lounell Johnson recently retired from Oak Grove Elementary, but you won't find either of these ladies sitting in a rocking chair. They have decided to put retirement to good use.

They feel blessed to be able to volunteer at Southland Nursing Home, doing crafts with the patients with craft directors Angie Brown and Debbie Azzarelli. The hugs, smiles and laughter from the patients have been very rewarding.

Both work part-time at local churches. Lounell works with preschool children at Harps Crossing Baptist Church, where she has been a member since 1984. Lounell has lived in Fayetteville for 30 years and has three children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her hobbies include baking, flower gardening and shopping.

Lou Cella works part-time at First Baptist Church in Peachtree City in the nursery. She has lived in Peachtree City for the past 11 years after moving here from Colorado. She has four sons and seven grandchildren. Her hobbies include working on crafts, such as painting and sewing, and one entire room in her home is dedicated to crafts, including notes and art work given to her by her grandchildren. She calls it her "art gallery."
