Man shot while being struck in face by pistolBy JOHN

A Riverdale man has been arrested for shooting another man at a home in north Fayette County as the two argued Sunday afternoon. According to warrants issued for his arrest, Charles David Harper, 62, struck Jimmy Bernard Massey in the face with a revolver when the gun discharged, shooting the victim in the jaw. Massey was in critical condition at Southern Regional Medical Center Tuesday afternoon. Harper was convicted in 1968 of assault to murder, according to the warrants, which were taken out by the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. Harper is charged with felony counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
