Peachtree City has received two separate grants from the Georgia Municipal Association that will allow it to purchase additional safety equipment.

The city was awarded a safety grant for $2,387 and a separate liability grant for $5,000 from GMA.

The funds will be used to purchase safety equipment for the fire, parks and recreation and public works departments. The equipment will include safety vests, encapsulated suits, turnout gear for firefighters, EMS infection kits, carbon monoxide alarms and LED warning lights.

Peachtree City's human resources manager Brenda Rogers worked to obtain the grants on behalf of the city. Mayor Steve Brown lauded her efforts.

"Not only will the funds help to keep our employees safe, but going through the application process also demonstrates Peachtree City's commitment to safety and can help keep our property, liability and workers compensation insurance as low as possible during these times of rising costs," Brown said.
