MUNFORD
A Jonesboro woman who led Luthersville police on a high-speed chase in July that ended in the death of a Peachtree City man has formally been arrested by local authorities. Lorraine McCrary, 37, was arrested Monday by the Fayette County Sheriff's Department on felony charges of murder, homicide by vehicle in the first degree, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, speeding, two counts of reckless conduct, a child safety seat violation and 10 counts of forgery. McCrary, who is being held without bond, was released Monday to another jail facility that could provide her with specialized medical treatment, said Sgt. Belinda McCastle of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. McCrary was hospitalized for weeks following the accident as she recovered from her injuries. McCrary led police on a chase through Peachtree City that reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour July 27, according to officials. The chase ended when her vehicle collided with a minivan driven by Chuck Vicha just outside the Peachtree City limits on Ga. Highway 54 East. Vicha was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff's detectives found numerous forged documents for credit card, checking and mortgage accounts in McCrary's vehicle after the accident.
