Red Ribbon Week activities at Peeples Elementary
During the week of Oct. 21-25, Peeples Elementary students and faculty took part in national Red Ribbon Week activities. The week-long, schoolwide activities designed to help promote drug prevention included "Put A Cap on Drugs," where students wore their favorite hat to school; "Tie One on Against Drugs," where students wore a favorite necktie or bowtie; "Red Day," where students wore as much red clothing as possible; "United We Stand for a Drug Free Land," where students dressed in patriotic clothing (especially outfits featuring an American flag); and finally on Friday, "Team Up Against Drugs," where students wore their favorite team's apparel. In the fall of 1988, the first National Red Ribbon Celebration kicked off, and now each October communities throughout the country take a stand against drugs with Red Ribbon Week activities. This national campaign is designed to establish a network of people in every community to support drug-free choices.
