Old McDonald's on the way out new jewelry store planned for site

The former site of a small McDonald's restaurant on Crosstown Court in south Peachtree City has been vacant for quite a while.

But a local jewelry store owner plans to relocate his shop there along with two retail spaces that will feature a European florist and a small cafe/catering business.

Robert Mucklow will relocate Mucklow's Fine Jewelry from its current digs across Crosstown Drive. He plans to remove the temporary building currently located at the site, building new from scratch.

"People keep asking me if we're going to keep the drive-thru," Mucklow said.

The new 1,500 sq. ft. building will use the same parking spaces currently on the site, Mucklow said. Another 17 spaces will be added, according to the plan.

The Peachtree City Planning Commission has signed off on the concept plan for the new retail complex.

Mucklow, a Peachtree City resident since 1986, said the move wouldn't be possible without the continued support of fellow residents. The new store will be over twice as large as the current facility, Mucklow said.

"We will have expanded studio capabilities and an expanded showroom," Mucklow said.

Mucklow Fine Jewelry specializes in custom orders, repair and restoration of jewelry.
