Angels are headed to Senoia

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in Senoia.

For the last two months, a lone angel has been suspended in downtown Senoia and drawn comments from residents.

During Monday's City Council meeting, Christmas Committee member Judy Belisle said the angel is just one of 21 that will line the streets of the city during the holiday season.

The angels were paid for by residents and businesses in the city and will create a very festive atmosphere in the city, she said.

The city also received some money from the producers of "The Fighting Temptations" movie which recently finished shooting in the city.

That money will be used to purchase dove decorations that will line the city's new bridge that leads to Peachtree City, she said.

This year's Light Up Senoia celebration is set for Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. A parade featuring Santa Claus will kickoff the festivities and the parade will culminate at the intersection of Main and Seavy Street for the lighting of the tree.

Any resident who wants to be in the parade should contact Belisle or another committee member, she said.

In addition to the parade, local groups will be selling hot chocolate and other goodies, and local choirs will contribute to the festive atmosphere.
