Resident wants old cars gone By JOHN
THOMPSON
Is the presence of abandoned cars in Senoia causing a blight on the city? That's the assessment of Senoia Historical Society president Perry Benson, who asked the City Council to do something about the growing number of abandoned vehicles in the city. Benson is currently fixing up a home on Stallings Road to use as rental property and said there are at least seven to eight abandoned cars near his property. "There's probably 70-80 around the city," he said. He asked the city's attorney to investigate and determine if there was any way the city could dispose of the vehicles. Resident Bill Roy said the city had a nuisance ordinance on the book that governed abandoned vehicles. City officials said the key in getting rid of the cars is determining who has the title to the vehicle and notifying them that the city intends to haul away the vehicle. The council pledged to get more information from city attorney Drew Whalen and report back on the issue.
