New west PTC subdivision may have townhome plans changed By JOHN
MUNFORD Officials for John Wieland Homes want to modify the layout of townhomes in its new Centennial subdivision, which is already under construction off the northern end of MacDuff Parkway in west Peachtree City. Citing a change in market demand, company officials want to replace a cluster of 35 townhome units it had earmarked for the east side of the MacDuff Parkway with 16 single-family detached lots. The company wants to "make up" the lost number of units by reconfiguring two of its three other townhome areas, John Wieland Homes representative Ed Woodland told the Peachtree City Planning Commission at its meeting Monday night. There is also a chance that the company may approach the city about further changes to its townhome plans, Woodland said. Customers are more interested in townhome floor plans that feature master bedrooms on the main floor instead of the three-story townhomes the company is offering in three different areas of the subdivision, he said. The entire property is limited to no more than 350 homes as a condition of the property being rezoned over a year ago. The commission tabled the matter, deciding to wait for full details of how the two townhome areas would be reconfigured. Woodland said the company would be ready for another presentation at the next planning commission meeting in two weeks. In other business, the commission approved the conceptual site plan for the Centennial subdivision's amenity area, which includes two tennis courts, a pool area and meeting space. The commission asked Woodland to work with the city to reduce the number of paved parking spaces from the current 40 spaces for automobiles.
