Sports car showcase at Falcon Field terminal would offset air show bill By JOHN
MUNFORD A snazzy small sports car may be the ticket for paying off most of a $7,477 tab the Great Georgia Airshow owes the Peachtree City Airport Authority. Hank Aaron BMW wants to park one of its exclusive Mini Cooper cars inside the terminal building at Falcon Field in return for $1,000 a month. At its Wednesday night meeting, the authority authorized Jerry Cobb an authority member and chairman of this year's air show to work out an agreement with the dealership. "They'll pay us $1,000 a month to let people sit there and look at it," Cobb said. The funds from the car showcase payments would go directly to the airport authority, which has agreed to use the funds to "forgive" $6,000 of the remaining $7,477 of the air show's bill. The car only takes up 90 sq. ft. of space, and it will fit through the terminal's main entrance with no problem, Cobb explained. The agreement with the dealership could be terminated at any time if necessary, Cobb added. Although Cobb took part in the discussion about the issue, he abstained from the vote, which passed 3-0. Air show officials have already paid the authority $7,208 for the fuel used during the show, which the authority sold at a discount. In other business, the authority approved renewing an agreement to maintain the airport's navigational equipment with MilerTronics, which currently performs the same service. The price of the year-long agreement has increased by three percent, but Airport Manager Jim Savage said he is very pleased with the company's service. Also, MilerTronics had been charging the authority the same price of $750 a month since 1999, Savage said. The new contract calls for a price of $773 a month.
