Two PTC playgrounds to close for upgrades; new playground also planned By JOHN
MUNFORD Two Peachtree City playgrounds will be getting a face lift beginning next week, and they will be closed while new playground equipment is installed. Also, a brand new playground will be added to the park at Three Ponds, also known as Luther Glass Park. The Pebblepocket park playground, located at the intersection of Hippocket and Willow Roads, will be closed early next week as the old playground equipment is removed. Soon after, the old playground equipment will be removed from the Glenloch park off Bridlepath. Both parks are expected to remain closed for two weeks if the weather cooperates, according to Director of Leisure Services Randy Gaddo. Once the project is complete, all three parks will have playgrounds which meet accessibility standards set by the Americans with Disabilities Act. The equipment will differ from the setup at the All Children's Playground, located at Picnic Park, which surpasses the ADA standards, Gaddo noted. The cost of the project is $40,000. The same amount was budgeted this year to improve more existing playgrounds, Gaddo added. "By the time we're done we will have a very contemporary inventory of play equipment throughout the city," Gaddo said. The playground structures and installation are being handled by Hasley Recreation and Design, Inc. which is the same company that provided the equipment and installation for the All Children's Playground.
