Residents finally get variance granted

After more than a year, the Pinots of Senoia finally received a variance for an accessory building at their home.

The City Council voted unanimously to allow the Pinots to continue with their accesory building, despite it slighly encroaching on the buffer requirements for the side yard.

Glenda Pinot told the City Council that she had worked with former city adnministrator Leonard Thomposn last year on making sure all the requirements were met.

When the new administration took office earlier this year, the Pinots were cited for a violation.

Pinot said she had not checked with the new administration before pouring the foundation for the building.

"I just believed we had complied with everything," she said.

Sue McDaniel, who lives near the Pinots, said she had no problem with granting the variance.

Before the City Council voted, Councilman Bob Hannah issued a word of warning to the Pinots and other residents in the community.

"I just wished you would have gotten it in writing," he said.
