PTC Rotary Club adopts Picnic Park for cleanup

The Rotary Club of Peachtree City has officially "adopted" Picnic Park through the city's Adopt-A-Park program.

The club has agreed visit the park once monthly to pick up litter and debris such as paper, bottles, cans and small branches. The club held a luncheon at Picnic Park recently to celebrate its commitment to the area.

Since the program began over two years ago, 23 parks and tot lots have been adopted by 31 residents, groups or organizations. Some parks have more than one adoptee, with each choosing to do a clean-up at the beginning, middle or end of the month.

Participants in the program are recognized for their efforts by an Adopt-A-Park sign at the parks with the names of the individual, organization or business.

The recreation department has several areas in larger parks that are still available for adoption, including the Beaver Dam park in the Wynnmeade subdivision, Clover Reach park, Drake Field, the soccer fields at the Glenloch Recreation Complex, the Jim Meade Memorial Fields on Ga. Highway 74 South, and Shakerag Knoll.
