Search after bomb scare at Panasonic turns up nothing
By JOHN
MUNFORD
The Panasonic manufacturing facility in Peachtree City was evacuated Monday morning due to a bomb threat. According to police, several notes were left in the building saying, "This is a bomb threat. Take it as a joke if you want to." Some of the notes were found in employee mailboxes, and a partial copy of the note was found in a copy machine at the facility, said Maj. Mike DuPree of the Peachtree City Police Department. Officers were sent to the scene at 10:20 a.m. Monday, DuPree said. The company sent its work force home while police officers searched the building; nothing was found during the search, DuPree said. Police are still investigating the incident and following leads on possible suspects, DuPree said. A Panasonic spokesperson declined to comment on the incident, saying the company didn't want to encourage similar situations in the future.
