More funds authorized for crack sealing project at Falcon Field By JOHN
MUNFORD
To compensate for higher bids than expected to fix pavement cracks at Falcon Field, the Peachtree City Airport Authority has approved spending an extra $350 to perform the preventive maintenance. The authority will chip in a total of $3,850 along with a $11,550 grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation to seal approximately 22,000 feet of cracks. The bids came in at 70 cents per linear foot as opposed to the projected 60 cents per foot, according to Airport Manager Jim Savage. The unanimous action from the authority at its meeting Monday night will allow the project to begin in early October. In other business, the authority agreed to spend up to $7,700 to have an audit performed by Geeslin, Cordle, Johnson and Wetherington, LLP, the low bidder for the project. The price includes performing a "single audit," which is required by the Federal Aviation Administration when the authority spends over $300,000 a year in grant funds.
