PTC passes on connecting new subdivision to Tyrone
By JOHN

A developer's request for permission to link his under-construction subdivision to a future subdivision in Tyrone still hasn't been approved by the Peachtree City Council. Instead, council voted last week to take no further action on the proposal until the Tyrone Planning Commission takes action on it at a later date. Attorney Doug Dillard, representing Hyland Developers, said council's earlier concerns about cut through traffic were addressed through a redesign of the Tyrone subdivision which includes a stop sign and a turn in the road to slow traffic. The subdivision in Peachtree City is already under construction but it could be a while before work begins on the Tyrone subdivision. But councilman Steve Rapson said cut-through traffic would still be a problem, and he wasn't sure connecting the subdivisions would benefit Peachtree City residents. "You haven't made a compelling argument to me," said councilman Dan Tennant. Developer Jimmy Halligan said without the road connection, residents in the Peachtree City subdivision would not have an amenity package that includes access to a lake, a pool and a clubhouse. "If they say they want it, then let's do it," Mayor Steve Brown said, referring to his wishes for Tyrone to tackle the matter first.
