Opening Friday

Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu are enemies who must team up to stop a bigger and badder enemy. This might be good for the action crowd. Rated R.

Four Feathers Heath Ledger, Kate Hudson and Wes Bentley star in this film about a British solider who is deserted by his friends for what they believe is his cowardice. Unbeknownst to them he continues to fight and proves his honor. I hear this is very good. Rated PG-13.

The Banger Sisters Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon star in this film about former rock and roll groupies who have grown apart. They are reunited and must come to terms with who they are. Hawn and Sarandon are both excellent actresses and this movie could be good. Of course, it could also not be very good. Rated R.

Trapped Courtney Love and Kevin Bacon star in this film about kidnappers. That is pretty much all I know. I haven't seen any previews or heard very much about this, so it probably stinks. Rated R.

Now Playing

Austin Powers in Goldmember A very funny movie that had me giggling the entire time. Mike Myers is excellent in all his roles, especially his portrayal of super villain Dr. Evil, and Michael Caine is equally as good as Austin's father. This is a must see for comedy fans. Rated PG-13.

Barbershop Ice Cube stars as a barber who inherits the barbershop from his father. Cube sels it to a loan shark and then realizes the store is worth a lot more than money. Cedric the Entertainer also stars. Rated PG-13.

City by the Sea Robert De Niro stars as a cop who must investigate the murder of a colleague. The main suspect in the murder is De Niro's son. This is based on a true story. Rated R.

Master of Disguise Dana Carvey stars as a waiter who learns he comes from a long line of masters of disguise and must use his powers to save his family. This has not fared well with audiences or critics. Rated PG.

My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding This is the sleeper hit of the summer. It has enchanted audiences and stayed in theaters longer than The Scorpion King, Star Wars and Spiderman. The plot focuses on a girl from a Greek family marrying a WASP. All of the reviews from my friends and family say that it is hilarious. Enjoy. Rated PG.

Signs The director of "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable" returns with this thriller about crop circles and a possible alien invasion. I say possible because this guy is always throwing curveballs at the audience. Mel Gibson stars as a farmer in the middle of this drama. Rated PG-13.

Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams This should be very good. I thoroughly enjoyed the first installment of Spy Kids, which dealt with a typical family with a not so typical profession. Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino star as the spy parents while Ricardo Montalban joins the cast as Spy Grandpa. Spy Kids was a fun movie for the whole family and I expect more of the same with the sequel. Rated PG.

Stealing Harvard I'm going ot go out on a limb here and say that this comedy starring Tom Green will be better than "Freddy Got Fingered." O.K., it's not a really long limb nor is it high off the ground, but this film about a man and his friend entering a life of crime to pay for a sister's tuition to Harvard and a wedding can't be worse than Green's sick and tasteless 'Freddy.' Jason Lee also stars. Rated PG-13.

Swimfan A "Fatal Attraction" for the teen crowd starring Erika Christensen as an obsessed psycho girl. The previews to this "thriller" look amusing. Rated PG-13.

Undisputed Ving Rhames and Wesley Snipes star in this boxing movie set in prison. I remember seeing the previews for this a long time ago, which could mean bad things. I do like Rhames and Snipes though, so we'll see. Rated R.

XXX This is not the movie's rating. Vin Diesel stars as an extreme athlete who gets recruited by the government to infiltrate the Russian mob. There are lots of chases and high flying stunts. This looks very cool and Diesel is quickly emerging as the next great action star. Rated PG-13.

Also Playing

Blue Crush Girls can surf too. That is the plot of this film with amazing visuals and cheesy dialogue. This has done pretty well with fans and critics alike and should be worth a buck. Rated PG-13.

Eight Legged Freaks David Arquette stars in this movie about giant, mutated spiders invading and attacking a town. This was a lot of fun. It was kind of like a cross between "Starship Troopers" and "Gremlins." Rated PG-13.

Like Mike Lil' Bow Wow stars as a small fry who finds some shoes with the initials "MJ" in them. The shoes turn out to be magical and Lil' Bow Wow wows the NBA. A bunch of real NBA stars are in the film. Rated PG.

Mr Deeds Adam Sandler returns to the big screen as a very nice man who inherits a large fortune. John Turturro is one of the highlights of the show as the very sneaky butler. Rated PG-13.

Scooby Doo This is very bad movie. For every entertaining moment in the film, the audience must suffer through many unentertaining, insipid or inane moments. I paid $.50 to watch this film and I still would rank this as one of the five worst movies I have seen this year. The kids may like this but they will also probably realize that they are being pandered to as well. Rated PG.

The Adventures of Pluto Nash Aren't you just a little curious to see what is being hailed as one of the worst movies of the year, if not all time? Eddie Murphy stars as a nightclub owner on the moon. I hear it is very, very bad. Rated PG-13.

The Bourne Identity Matt Damon plays a man with amnesia and something implanted in him. When people find out he is alive, they try to destroy him because of what he knows. This is a great action film with some truly amazing sequences, including a car chase through the streets of Paris. Rated PG-13.

The Country Bears Disney presents this live action film about The Country Bears band and an adopted bear searching for his roots. Rated G.

The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course I like the Crocodile Hunter and I really wanted to see this movie. Now that is at the dollar theatre, I'll be there. I know it won't be the best movie of the year but it will be better than some of the things I have seen at the dollar theatre. Rated PG.
