Chase suspect indicted for murder, vehicular homicide

A Jonesboro woman has been indicted by a Fayette County Grand Jury for murder and vehicular homicide for causing the death of a Peachtree City man while fleeing Luthersville Police. Lorraine McCrary was also indicted for fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, speeding, two counts of reckless conduct and violation of child safety restraint regulations. McCrary led police on a chase through Peachtree City that reached speeds of over 100 mph July 27. The chase ended when her vehicle collided with a minivan driven by Chuck Vicha just outside the Peachtree City limits on Ga. Highway 54 East. Vicha was pronounced dead at the scene. Three children in McCrary's car were injured, and McCrary herself was hospitalized for weeks after the incident. The grand jury also returned indictments against the following people: Daniel Joseph Venn of Peachtree City for rape, two counts of aggravated sodomy and sexual battery; Robert Lee Silva of Peachtree City for aggravated child molestation and child molestation; William Larry Shearin of Fayetteville for two counts of child molestation; David Stephen Mikell of Peachtree City for owning, operating or conducting a chop shop and theft by receiving stolen property (golf cart); Samuel Howard Goodall of Union City for kidnapping with bodily injury, two counts of aggravated assault and aggravated sexual battery; James Anthony Cook of Griffin for impersonating a police officer; Stephen Arthur Cramer of Sharpsburg for child molestation.
