PTC Council to consider allowing 15-year-olds to drive siblings on carts By JOHN
MUNFORD Now that 15-year-olds with learner's permits can drive golf carts in Peachtree City without adult supervision, the City Council is thinking about taking it a step further. Those drivers are currently limited to having just one passenger on board who must be at least 15 years old also. But several council members think it would help local families if those 15-year-olds could drive their siblings around town. Council has asked City Attorney Rick Lindsey to draft an ordinance which would allow the 15-year-olds to drive their siblings on golf carts. But several council members wanted it made clear they have not approved the concept yet. In a public hearing during last week's council meeting, some residents said parents are the best judge to determine whether their child is mature enough to drive siblings on the family golf cart. Resident Bill Aleshire requested that council require 15-year-old drivers to be insured in case they get into an accident.
