Student enters scholar society
Mark Walser Nonni, of Peachtree City accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored during a campus ceremony this fall at the University of Georgia. The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is a highly selective, national, nonprofit honors organization. Founded in 1994, NSCS recognizes first and second year undergraduate students who excel academically. The Society was established on the principle that with scholarship comes a responsibility to develop leadership and a duty to perform service. "NSCS provides the opportunity to students, like Mark, to be recognized for their outstanding academic accomplishments early in their college experience," said Steve Loflin, NSCS executive director. "Mark will also have the opportunity to join other high achieving college students in developing leadership skills and a sense of civic responsibility." Nonni, a sophomore at UGA, graduated with honors from McIntosh High School in 2001. He is currently majoring in business and intends to go on to law school. The induction ceremony will be held Sunday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. in the chapel on the north campus of the University of Georgia. Nonni is the son of Peachtree City residents Lynne and Arthur Nonni.
