Coweta County will join the rest of the nation in staging a remembrance of the tragedies of Sept. 11 next Wednesday.

Ceremonies will begin at 8 p.m. on the west side of the Coweta County Courthouse in Newnan.

Clergy members from throughout the county will speak and offer prayers, while choruses from East Coweta, Northgate and Newnan high schools will sing patriotic numbers.

County Commission Chairman Jim McGuffey will also offer a reflection the tragic events of the day. One of the highlights is expected to be a speech from Coweta County Extension Service employee Carolyn Fjeran. Fjeran's cousin was Todd Beamer, who rushed the cockpit of the plane that crashed in western Pennsylvania.

Numerous churches throughout the county are also holding special services Wednesday.
