PTC planning commission to tackle request for limited use commercial designation

The Peachtree City Planning Commission has a light agenda for its regularly scheduled Monday meeting, but it plans to tackle one commercial rezoning request for property on Ga. Highway 74 north near Wisdom Road.

Developers would like to have the 2.35 acre property, currently zoned agricultural-residential to a limited use commercial zoning. The matter was discussed by the commission at a workshop during its last meeting, and it asked the property owner to try and contact the owner of a parcel to the south to see if a cooperative deal could be struck.

Specifically, developers are eyeing the property to build a carpet showroom to replace one currently located at Westpark Walk.

The property in question is known historically as the Leach property. It borders the Fairfield subdivision, and developers have been working with Fairfield residents on their plans.

The city's land use plan calls for the property to eventually be developed for office-institutional, but the property has already been marketed as "potential" commercial.

The commission will also discuss a landscape plan for the Ethan Allen furniture store that is nearing completion in the Marketplace shopping center on Ga. Highway 54 west. The only other agenda item is for a public hearing on city-initiated rezoning requests, most of which are for city owned properties.
