Commision posts up for grabs Tuesday

Coweta County voters head back to the polls Tuesday to decide the two Republican nominees for County Commission districts.

In District Two, Greg Tarbutton faces off against Jeff Estep. Tarbutton received 780 votes to Estep's 679 in the August primary.

In District Three, political newcomer Larry DeMoss finished first in the field in August with 1,153 votes to incumbent Lawrence Nelms' 771 votes.

The District Three race has been far more contentious this election season with DeMoss questioning some of the actions taken by Nelms during his tenure on the County Commission.

DeMoss has questioned why some of the county's services are not properly funded and said the county has more than $20 million in reserves.

But Nelms and county officials have countered the money is not reserves; it's earmarked for bills that have yet to be paid.

The polls are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday.
