Stancil speaks in Fayette
Republican lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Steve Stancil addressed a crowd of Republican supporters last week at a Fayetteville breakfast hosted by House minority leader Lynn Westmoreland, who has endorsed Stancil. "I have been honored to serve with Steve in the House for the better part of a decade," said Westmoreland as he introduced Stancil. "He brought tremendous insight to the budget process and true conservative leadership principles to the table in every debate." Stancil said he was "truly honored to have the endorsement of local Republican House members Westmoreland, Rep. John Yates, and Rep. John Lunsford." He began his message by thanking the group for its support in the Aug. 20 primary and asking everyone to "go to the polls one more time," referring to the Sept. 10 runoff. "There is clear evidence that Democrat Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor does not want to face me in November," he said. "In an unprecedented move, he attacked me with a negative campaign ad six days before the Republican primary. "I am the candidate the Democrats fear the most," he added. "I hope you will send me to face Taylor in the fall and make their worst nightmare come true."
