Senoia elections go uncontested

This year's election season in Senoia will be a sharp contrast to last year's bitterly contested races.

When qualifying ended Wednesday afternoon, only current councilmen Robert Belisle and Bill Wood had qualified for the two council posts.

Although Wood and Belisle were elected last year, they both had to qualify for this year's election.

Wood filled the unexpired term of Pam Youngblood who ran for mayor last year, and Belisle was finishing out the term of Darren Ratajski, who resigned last fall.

City Clerk Debbie Hogan said this is the first year the city will not have an election since Mayor Joan Trammell and councilmen Dianne Cleveland and Robert Hannah ran unopposed in 1999.

Wood and Belisle will be sworn into office in January and will serve two-year terms.
