Four people walked away uninjured from a small plane crash Saturday morning just south of Peachtree City, according to the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services. The plane, a Piper PA 34-200 owned by Peachtree Flight School, attempted to make an emergency landing when it struck the ground, according to NTSB air safety investigator Eric Alleyne. It had previously taken off from Falcon Field, where Peachtree Flight School is based, he added. The NTSB withheld the names of the instructor and student pilot pending the outcome of the investigation, which is still in its preliminary stage, Alleyne said Tuesday morning. The plane was to be inspected by officials from the National Transportation Safety Board today, according to NTSB air safety investigator Eric Alleyne. The crash occurred just before 10 a.m. Saturday as multiple emergency units searched for the plane near Ga. Highway 74 South and Redwine Road, according to the fire department. The plane was found in a field just behind Little One's Day Care on Hwy. 74. The plane was flown under visual flight regulations, Alleyne said. The investigation will look at the plane's engine as well as the plane's maintenance records and prevailing weather conditions, Alleyne said. "Right now, the focus is on the airplane," Alleyne said.
