Scott will face Cox in November

The race is set for Fulton County's newest Congressional representative. With 99 percent of the precincts reporting, State Senator David Scott won the Democratic nomination for the post. Scott received 22,560 votes for 53.9 percent of the total. Finishing a distant second was State Senator Greg Hecht with 8,344 votes and 19.9 percent. Former Georgia Democratic Party head David Worley finished a distant third with 5,524 votes for 13.2 percent. Scott will now face Republican Clay Cox in the November election. State Senator Donzella James, who represented South Fulton County, garnered 4,693 votes for 11.2 percent. Bringing up the rear of the race was Embry Malone with 755 votes for 1.8 percent of the total. In the Fulton County School Board District 6 race, incumbent Zenda Bowie was returned to office with 2,452 votes and 56 percent of the vote Lawrence Poindexter picked up 1,917 votes for 44 percent.
