BOYLAN Opening Friday Little Secrets A kid's movie about a girl that learns the secrets of al the kids in her neighborhood but soon finds it hard to keep all of the secrets. This is only playing in select markets, so the movie company is testing it out. I had never heard of this film, so I can't really give you my impression. Rated PG. My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding Wow. I can't believe Tinseltown got this movie. The sleeper hit of the summer, Wedding has enchanted audiences and stayed in theaters longer than The Scorpion King, Star Wars and Spiderman. I hear this movie about a girl from a Greek family marrying a WASP is hilarious. Enjoy. Rated PG. Serving Sara Matthew Perry stars in this comedy with Elizabeth Hurley. The plot is about serving a woman's ex-husband with legal papers. Cedric the Entertainer also stars. Rated PG-13. Simone Al Pacino plays a director who creates a computer generated actress who becomes one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. This is an interesting idea and could be a good one. Rated PG-13. Undisputed Ving Rhames and Wesley Snipes star in this boxing movie set in prison. I remember seeing the previews for this a long time ago, which could mean bad things. I do like Rhames and Snipes though, so we'll see. Rated R.
Now Playing Austin Powers in Goldmember This is the movie I have been waiting all summer for. Mike Myers resumes his roles as Austin, Dr. Evil, that really gross, fat guy and the new villain, Goldmember. Michael Caine also stars as Austin's father. This should be as good as the other two, if not better. Rated PG-13. Blood Work Clint Eastwood plays a retired FBI director who is hired to investigate the murder of the woman whose heart has been transplanted into his body. Jeff Daniels also stars in this thriller. I like Clint Eastwood but I'd almost like to see him just direct movies instead of star in them as well. Rated R. Blue Crush Girls can surf too. That is the plot of this film with amazing visuals and cheesy dialogue. The previews look amazing as waves swallow up surfers whole, but I think it may be a pretty boring movie. Rated PG-13. Master of Disguise It will be very good to see Dana Carvey back on the silver screen. In this comedy he stars as a waiter who learns he comes from a long line of masters of disguise and must use his powers to save his family. Let us hope that this is better than some of his earlier ventures as a leading man. Anyone remember "Opportunity Knocks" or "Clean Slate?" I didn't think so. Rated PG. Martin Lawrence Live: Runteldat The feisty comedian takes the stage in this concert film and talks about a whole slew of subjects, including his personal life which was mired in controversy a few years ago. Lawrence is very funny and this can't be worse than "Black Knight." Rated R. Signs The director of "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable" returns with this thriller about crop circles and a possible alien invasion. I say possible because this guy is always throwing curveballs at the audience. Mel Gibson stars as a farmer in the middle of this drama. Rated PG-13. Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams This should be very good. I thoroughly enjoyed the first installment of Spy Kids, which dealt with a typical family with a not so typical profession. Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino star as the spy parents while Ricardo Montalban joins the cast as Spy Grandpa. Spy Kids was a fun movie for the whole family and I expect more of the same with the sequel. Rated PG. The Adventures of Pluto Nash Eddie Murphy can be funny but ask yourself why this movie is coming out a summer late. If it was so good, why did it sit on a shelf in Hollywood since last May? Other members of the cast include Randy Quaid, Jay Mohr and Rosario Dawson. Rated PG-13. The Bourne Identity Matt Damon plays a man with amnesia and something implanted in him. When people find out he is alive, they try to destroy him because of what he knows. This is a great action film with soe truly amazing sequences, including a car chase through the streets of Paris. Rated PG-13. XXX This is not the movie's rating. Vin Diesel stars as an extreme athlete who gets recruited by the governement to infiltrate the Russian mob. There are lots of chases and high flying stunts. This looks very cool and Diesel is quickly emerging as the next great acton star. Rated PG-13.
Also Playing Enough Jennifer Lopez plays an abused housewife who has had enough of running from her abusive husband. She learns self-defense and prepares to kill him the next time he attacks. Rated R. Halloween: Resurrection I wish they would stop making these movies. They will never be very good. I know that now. Michael Meyers comes back...again. This time to his house where a greedy Web site has locked a group of teens in the seemingly safe house (He's really dead this time, right?) for a Web cast that is being watched around the world. Jamie Lee Curtis is back once again as well. I was so disappointed with "Jason X," that I fear this movie will be just as bad. Rated R. Hey Arnold: The Movie Nickelodeon's football shaped headed hero tries to save his town in this animated film. Rated PG. Insomnia Al Pacino and Robin Williams star in this remake of a Norwegian film. Directed by Christopher Nolan, this thriller is set in Alaska during the time of year when there is no night. This got very good reviews and looks like a classy film. Rated R. Like Mike Lil' Bow Wow stars as a small fry who finds some shoes with the initials "MJ" in them. The shoes turn out to be magical and Lil' Bow Wow wows the NBA. A bunch of real NBA stars are in the film. Rated PG. Minority Report Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg team up for this film based on a story by Phillip K. Dick. The visuals were very impressive and the plot twists kept me guessing. Hey, it's got Tom Cruise and was directed by Steven Spielberg. What more could you ask for? Rated PG-13. Reign of Fire Dragons come back to life and haunt the Earth in the future. It is up to a group of Marines and a community trapped in a castle to bring them down. This looked prety decent, but didn't fare too well. It has to be worth a dollar. Rated PG-13. Scooby Doo Unsure of whether it wanted to be for kids or their teenage counterparts, Scooby Doo offered a little bit to both parties and did not score especially well with critic or audiences. There will be a sequel though and maybe it will be more focused. Again, it's a dollar, so check it out. Rated PG. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron If you like animation then this might be a good choice. The story focuses on a horse that cannot be tamed by the cavalry. A Native American man befriends the horse and tries to make sure that it is not captured. Rated G. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones Far superior to the Epsiode I, this film focuses on an older Anakin and the growing rift in the Universe between good and evil. There is lots of action and some really fun surprises. It is definitely worth a dollar. Rated PG. The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course I like the Crocodile Hunter and I really wanted to see this movie. Now that is at the dollar theatre, I'll be there. I know it won't be the best movie of the year but it will be better than some of the things I have seen at the dollar theatre. Rated PG. The Powerpuff Girls Movie Cartoon Network's three little superheroes hit the big screen with this full length film. If you like the show, you'll like the movie. Rated PG. The Sum of All Fears Terrorists blow up Baltimore and it is up to a young Jack Ryan, played by Ben Affleck, to save the day the best he can. Rated PG-13. Windtalkers John Woo directs this film about Navajo codebreakers in World War II. Nicolas Cage and Christian Slater star in this film. Rated R.
