CCSU class offerings set for PTC tennis center By JOHN
MUNFORD
Clayton College and State University will offer 22 different continuing education courses at the Peachtree City Tennis Center beginning this fall. Over half of the offerings are targeted at assisting small businesses with a variety of topics from preparing payroll and income taxes to "marketing on a shoestring budget." Three classes will be offered in the field of management and another two will be held in the area of health care training: basic human anatomy and medical terminology. Another class will offer Spanish lessons for health care providers. Several classes are also planned with the general community in mind, including defensive driving, interior design and photography. The public can register for classes by visiting http://conted.clayton.edu or by calling 770-961-3550 and pressing 2. The classes, most of which are held in the evening, will begin Tuesday, Sept. 24, according to Virgil Christian, executive director of the Peachtree City Development Authority, which is hosting the classes at a special classroom area at the new tennis facility at the Peachtree City Tennis Center. The new building, which will include a new restaurant and offices for tennis center staff, is about 90 percent done, Christian said. The hope is that eventually CCSU officials can offer college credit courses at the facility. Peachtree City officials anticipate the program becoming so popular that CCSU can build a stand-alone satellite campus in the future to accommodate the community's needs. The facility at the tennis center will have one classroom wired for high-speed Internet connections compliments of Newnan Utilities. The Fayette County Development Authority and the Peachtree City City Council have also chipped in funds to make the project a reality.
