Commission races headed for runoff

Coweta County voters will head back to the polls in less than a month to decide the two Republican nominees for County Commission districts.

In District Two, Greg Tarbutton faces off against Jeff Estep. Tarbutton received 780 votes to Estep's 679. Richard Hodges finished a distant third with 323 votes.

In District Three, political newcomer Larry DeMoss led the field with 1,153 votes to incumbent Lawrence Nelms' 771 votes. Former commissioner Charlie Jones finished third with 656 votes.

In the school board races, former Braves pitcher Steve Bedrosian was returned to his District One office with 1,250 votes to Ted Bateman's 576 votes.

In the District Four race, Brian Roy beat Blair Walker by a slim margin. Roy tallied 934 votes to Walker's 914 votes.

The runoff for the County Commission races is Sept. 10.
