Tractor pull starts today By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
The town of Turin in Coweta County is having a celebration this weekend. The party starts on Friday night with a concert and free refreshments and continues on Saturday with the eighth annual Turin Antique Farm Power Show and Tractor Pull. The West Georgia 2-Cylinder Club hosts Saturday's events, which will take place behind the Turin Fire Station on Ga. Highway 16. Activities include a parade, which starts at 10 a.m., a tractor pull, a slow race, which pits two tractors against each other going at the lowest throttle, a handstart race, a powder puff pull and a pedal race. The parade and tractor pull are open to members and non-members alike, as long as they own an antique tractor that weighs 3,000 pounds and up. Those wishing to be in the parade are asked to bring their tractors to the site after 6 p.m. on Friday or before 9 a.m. on Saturday. Friday night's block party will feature the band Checkmate. The event will last from 7:30-10:30 p.m. and will start with a flag raising at 7 p.m. Saturday's events will last from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information on the tractor pull, phone Bill or Billy Banks at 770-599-3611, Billy or Joe Christopher at 770-599-3536 or Harry Odom at 770-599-6486.
