The Sons of the American Revolution has chartered a new chapter in Fayette County. Appropriately named the "Marquis de Lafayette Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, Georgia Society," the group has gone from 11 organizational members to 43 members.

Said newly elected president, Doug Stansberry, "I am very proud to be associated with this organization and this chapter. We must always remember and honor those whose freedoms were dearly won so that we might be here today. I have a friend who teaches school, and he told me that the schools new history book only has eight sentences on the American Revolution."

Speaker for the occasion was Dominique M. H. Lemoine. He is in charge of the law office in Atlanta of Sokolow, Dunaud, Mercadier & Carreras.

He received his undergraduate degree from the school of law of the Universite d'Orleans in 1980, and from the Institut d'Edudes Politiques de Paris in 1983. In the United States, he received an LLM from Columbus University School of law and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. He practiced law in Paris before coming to the United States, and is a member of both the New York Bar and the Georgia Bar.

Lemoine spoke on "Marquis de Lafayette - America's French Compatriot" and outlined the life of the man for whom Fayette County was named.
