AIDS testing sites expand
The Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness will offer HIV testing and syphilis screening at three new locations beginning August 19. Confidential testing, pre- and post-test counseling, early intervention referral services and free condoms will be available at the Adamsville, College Park and South Fulton Health Centers. The new testing sites represent Phase I of the department's expansion of HIV and STD services. Phase II, scheduled for Fall 2002, will add testing for other STD's, including gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniases, and herpes. HIV testing services will be offered at the following new locations and times: Adamsville Health Center, 3699 Bakers Ferry Road, Atlanta; 404-699-4215; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Thursday 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m. College Park Health Center, 1920 John Wesley Dobbs Avenue, Atlanta; 404-765-4155; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Wednesday 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m.-noon; 2nd and 4th Saturday 9 a.m.-2 p.m. South Fulton Health Center, 1225 Capital Avenue, Atlanta; 404-730-5406; Thursday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Expanded HIV services are part of Fulton County's yearlong campaign to raise AIDS awareness, "Fulton Faces AIDS: The Real Test is Now." The campaign focuses on raising community awareness of the ongoing problem of AIDS, fighting the disease and encouraging individuals to get tested.
