Honking protestors don't sit well with Golf View Drive residents By JOHN
MUNFORD
Motorists forced to slow down on Golf View Drive in Peachtree City have taken their frustrations down on residents of that neighborhood with their horns. Last weekend, some local activist upset with the new, longer speed humps and extra stop signs posted a sign urging other motorists to honk their horns in protest at each stop sign and each speed hump. City officials also lowered the speed limit on Golf View Drive to 20 miles per hour. "Sound off to the paranoid old people of Golf View Drive," the sign read. "... This is what the Golf View residents wanted and got." Golf View resident Rod Joyner confiscated the sign Sunday after noticing a lot of honking near his home and turned it over to the police department. Two women in particular have been honking their displeasure all week, Joyner said. "The kids are not doing this. It's the adults acting like kids," Joyner said. Woody Joyner, Rod's father, took offense to being labeled "paranoid" by the sign poster. "Please tell them I'm not paranoid," the elder Joyner said. "I'm old, but I'm not paranoid." The City Council recently approved extending and raising the speed humps on Golf View Drive and adding more stop signs while slowing the speed limit to 20 mph. The humps originally spanned one lane at a time, but some motorists would "weave" around the humps, officials said.
