Irvin speaks in Fayette

Bob Irvin, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, was in town last week to talk to supporters and undecided voters.

After a social period where attendees enjoyed a dessert bar and beverages, Irvin spoke to the crowd. When asked what he would do differently than Democratic incumbent Max Cleland, he said, "Almost everything."

He kept his message positive when talking about his Republican opponent, Saxby Chambliss, highlighting some differences and then focusing on his own platform. He said he was the conservative candidate, being pro-life and pro-2nd Amendment.

Irvin supports the Fair Tax Bill which would abolish the IRS and the Internal Revenue Code, and substitute a single sales tax levy at the final point of purchase by the consumer. In answers to other questions, he said he supported term limits, supported an experimental trial regarding use of school vouchers in failing school systems, wanted to bring generic drugs to market sooner, and discussed the need for reform in various aspects of the health care system.
