Rodeo for Jesus?

By DR. KNOX HERNDON
Pastor

Have you ever wondered what the personality of Jesus was really like? I'm not talking about His divinity or His divine purpose for coming or the fact that he gave himself for the sins of mankind that we might have eternal life. I'm talking about what was He like to be around as a person.

We only have the accounts of His birth and then He reappears at twelve years of age in the temple astounding the religious leaders. We know He was a carpenter's son and worked in His Fathers shop. We further know He begins His ministry at 30 and is crucified at 33.

We also know that it was the religious leaders that had him crucified. He kept crossing over the lines socially, religiously, racially, culturally and this is what got Him eventually killed. He was seen with sinners, beggars, women of the streets, and even tax collectors. Imagine Him claming to be the "Son of God!"

As we further examine His personality, He appeared to be a man who so loved God His Father that he would use any and everything to get His point across. He did this very effectively in images He would create by the telling of stories in what the Bible calls "parables."

Saturday, Aug. 3,at 8 p.m. we will be conducting a Rodeo For Jesus at the D&R Rodeo Arena in Senoia. The gates will open at 6 p.m. rodeo will begin at 8.

The events will include junior bull riding, sheep riding, children and young adult barrel racing, stick horse barrel racing, free door prizes, and awards for the kids. There will be a concession stand and clowns for the kids.

Donations for admission will be collected as a fund raiser for the building of Phase II of His House Community Church.

This may be a far cry from a parable but I can assure you that the Gospel message will be there. This family rodeo will be a good event for kids of all ages.

Do you think it would be in the personality of Jesus to come to an event like this? Come and find out. Directions to the Rodeo arena are as follows:
