Watch your government on television

Fulton residents can learn what the county's 36 departments do by tuning in a new show, "Fulton At Work," on FGTV, the county's cable television channel operated by the Fulton County Department of Communications.

The half-hour series, which will air quarterly, features various services and programs provided by departments.

The first segment will be shown July 22-28 and focus on topics such as personnel recruitment and training, the court system's Complaint Room, the Human Services Department's Office of Aging program for homebound seniors, and an award the department received for the Art for Aids auction.

Hosted by reporter/producer Sonny Rollins, the show will air at 6:05 a.m., 10:05 a.m., 2:05 p.m., 7 p.m., and 1:30 a.m.

"Fulton County's departments and agencies are all committed to serving its residents, yet the majority of our residents know about or utilize only a few of them," said Shaunya Chavis, deputy director of the Department of Communications, which operates FGTV. "This show will introduce to some and educate all about the various ways Fulton County is at work for them."

FGTV broadcasts 24 hours a day on AT&T Broadband Cable on Channel 13 and 21 in Atlanta, and on Channel 23 in the rest of the County. The station may also be found on other channels in different areas. Call the cable operator for specifics.

The complete FGTV program schedule is on the county's web site at www.co.fulton.ga.us.
