Voting machines will be on display

Fulton County seniors who want to teach the new touch-screen voting machine to others can learn at senior service centers between July 23 and Aug. 8.

Although the machine, which operates like a bank's automated teller machine, won't be used until the Nov. 5 general election, employees of the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections are giving the elderly an advance encounter with the new technology. Volunteers will learn the technique and then be available to teach other seniors.

All Fulton County citizens will use the current punch-card voting method in the Aug. 20 general primary. Under the new touch-screen system to be used in November, voters simply touch the appropriate boxes to choose candidates, review choices, and lock in their votes. The voter machines are at the Camp Truitt Neighborhood Senior Center, 4320 Herschel Road in College Park.
