Artist leaves legacy at library
By CAROLYN
CARY
Marketa Sudkova, a Czech Republic native, has been teaching German at the Fayette County Public Library. She was a school teacher in her native country. She has been in the area for six years and wanted to leave a living legacy behind when she returned to her homeland. "Give me a wall," she said to library director Chris Snell. Wanting to be gracious about the request, Snell gave her four walls in the Tiny Tots story room. Sudkova chose to paint the bottom half of each wall in scenes reflecting the elements of wind, fire, air, and water. The work was covered by brown wrapping paper and library advocates, attending a ceremony honoring them, unveiled the unique work. Sudkova will be spending several months in Denver, studying art, and then will return to her home country.
