Landmark pitcher gets scholarship

Landmark Christian School's 2002 summa cum laude graduate Daniel Gunn has signed a letter of intent to continue his education and baseball career as a member of the Augusta State University Jaguars.

Gunn, a Douglas County resident, was recruited nationally and received offers locally from Berry College, The State University of West Georgia and Asbury College in Lexington, Kentucky.

He is an ace left-hander with a record of 7-2 and 1.87 ERA this season. Daniel is a four-year varsity starter and letterman who helped lead the War Eagles to the third round of the GHSA Division A state baseball play-offs in 2001 and the second round of play-offs in 2002.

Gunn's batting average is .429 with 34 runs scored, including 33 hits, seven doubles, two triples and three home runs.

Daniel will join 2001 Landmark graduate Brandon Sumlin and 2001 Douglas County High School graduate Lee Rose on the ASU Jaguars baseball team. Daniel is the son of Ray and Denise Gunn of Winston.
