PTC beautification committee seeks more volunteers By JOHN
MUNFORD Peachtree City's Beautification Committee wants you. The committee, which will become more active in the near future, has a host of projects on the horizon. Those include developing planting plans for all "gateway" entrances and cart paths areas in the city and seeking funding from the City Council for various projects. Another idea being considered is developing a "Hands-on Peachtree City" program to help clean up and beautify areas around town such as cart paths and parks. The development of a Web site to keep everyone informed on the beautification committee's actions is also being considered. In the past, the committee's role has been limited in participating with annual tree and flower plantings. But led by City Planner David Rast, this movement will require a little more work year-round. The main concept is to "maintain the character of Peachtree City," Rast said. Rast said the program was somewhat ambitious, but the idea is to have the committee act as a "catalyst to enhance sense of place and civic pride." The committee will likely begin meeting on either the first or third Monday of each month, but a final meeting date has not been established.
