True crime author to appear at PTC library Thursday

Local readers can meet Georgia true crime author Jaclyn Weldon White when she appears at the Peachtree City Library Thursday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m.

White will discuss her newest book, "The Empty Nursery," which is about the 1992 kidnapping and murder of 7-month-old Haley Hardwick in Lawrenceville.

White, a former juvenile court administrator, has provided in-depth insight into the case from two different perspectives the police investigation of the case and the anguish the mother went through in the aftermath of the incident.

White was nominated for Georgia Author of the Year in 2000 for her first book, "Whisper to the Black Candle: Voodoo, Murder and the Case of Anjette Lyles," a book about a series of murders which took place in Macon in the 1950s.

White has worked in law enforcement since 1978 and was a juvenile court administrator in Gwinnett County. She is retired now and lives in Macon.
