Personnel director completes management program

Coweta County Personnel Director Rick Watson has achieved the status of Certified Human Resource Manager following completion of the Certified Human Resource Manager Program administered by the University of Georgia's Carl Vinson Institute of Government.

The program, sponsored by the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association in cooperation with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia and the Georgia Municipal Association, is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of those persons responsible for the management and administration of personnel systems in local government.

Requirements for designation as a Certified Human Resource Manager include completion of seven required and five elective courses, completion of a written test, and participation in an assessment center, where a participant's reactions to real-life situations are evaluated based on multiple observations by multiple observers.

Rick Watson joined Coweta County in February 1988 and has served as personnel director since August 2000.

On achieving the status of Certified Human Resource Manager, Watson commented, "It is an excellent program focused on the constant updates of human resource principles and laws as they relate to local governments."
