Edwards could get a November opponent
By JOHN THOMPSON
Fulton County Commissioner Bill Edwards may face a challenge to his post in the November election. Abby Jordan, a 6-year resident of South Fulton and a 25-year resident of Fulton County, will run as an independent in the Nov. 5 general election. "It's time for all South Fulton citizens to be represented by a true community-focused commissioner," said Jordan. "As Director of Green South Fulton, I have fought for the right of community residents to influence decisions in their communities, and look forward to working for all South Fulton citizens as their Commissioner." Jordan's agenda focuses on promoting prosperity, equity and quality of life in South Fulton by empowering communities, common-sense growth planning, and equitable delivery of services across South Fulton. "South Fulton has fantastic natural resources the historic Main Streets in our cities, small friendly communities, country roads and forests, and committed community leaders. Now developers have discovered us. All areas must benefit from the influx of homes, jobs, and investment dollars. This will require planning for growth in coordination with transportation, schools, public safety, and parks," she added. Jordan decided to run as an independent in the November election, which requires more than 3,000 signatures on a nomination petition, rather than challenge Edwards in the Aug. 20 Democratic primary. "I want voters to have the time to carefully consider the important issues coming up in the next four years, and give all South Fulton citizens the opportunity to choose their commissioner not just those who vote in the primary."
