Builder scholarships awarded

Eleven college scholarships for $1,000 each were presented at the Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia's June meeting, held recently at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center in Peachtree City.

The recipients of the 2002 scholarships, which are funded by the Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia's Scholarship House program, went to Kristina Brown, Sarah Duncan, Thomas Priest and Adam Rogers, East Coweta High School; Andrew Bashakes and Amanda Baumgardner of Starr's Mill High School; Angelique Harrell and Walter Wilson of Griffin High School; Jonathan Stroble of Northgate High School; Brooke Waddle of Fayette County High School; and Clint Croyle of Mt. Zion Christian Academy.

The association's Scholarship Program annually provides scholarships toward paying for the freshmen year in college for several students from the area served by the home builders group. Since the program was created 20 years ago, the association has awarded 147 scholarships totaling $209,500.

The Scholarship House is built utilizing volunteer time and materials from members of the association.

The Home Builders Association of Midwest Georgia serves builders in Fayette, Coweta, Spalding, Meriwether and Heard counties.
